Ipsy Bag│March 2018

Hi wonderful peeps!  Last year, I decided to finally find out what all of the hype behind the Ipsy Glam bag was.  My subscription began with the June 2017 Glam bag and I received my first bag in the mail on June 14, 2017.

9 months of receiving this monthly makeup subscription (I skipped last month/February) and I have gathered my overall thoughts on it.  Starting this month, I will be including a monthly blog post for each Ipsy Bag.  If I can swing it, I’ll record a YT video for each bag, as well!

Let’s begin with March 2018’s Ipsy Bag

Current Wash Routine│April 2017

Hello lovely people! ☼ For someone who has been natural for 5 years, I still do not follow the best wash regimen.  Typically, I wash my hair every 2 weeks (honestly, sometimes longer. don’t judge me.)  When I am not stressing over schoolwork, and I allot the right amount of time to hair TLC, my hair responds amazingly!

Most recently, I’ve been following this regimen.  Washing my hair, then proceeding to put it some protective style, i.e. two-strand twists/braids, or two buns, then giving it time to breathe by wearing an afro.  After wearing my fro for a few days, I’ll re-moisturize and re-twist/braid my hair, wear it out again, and then wash it by the end of the second week.

A little information about the products used:

Pastels Please?

Another Spring season post? Yes.  Why not?  If you follow trends, then you know when Spring arrives, it’s time to bring out the pastels!  On the other hand, if you do not follow trends…Then wear your pastels all year round honey.  Who’s going to stop you?

Anyway, who doesn’t love a nice lemon or lavender colored nail?  Or even a pop of mint on the water line and a pretty pale pink lip?  And don’t forget about all of the Easter-inspired beauty looks our favorite influencers have created.  My favorites have been:

Spring Forward…into Makeup!

Hi beautiful people!  I know that Spring season is already upon us (began on March 20th), but I wanted to make sure that I dedicated a post to the more popular trends I have seen floating around the online beauty community.  According to Cosmopolitan (online), dewy skin is back for the warmer weather, along with bronzed skin and cheeks, minimal makeup with a bold red lip, monochrome makeup looks with oranges, peaches, and pinks (including matching nails), and surprisingly enough, bold cool tones grey and blue are being seen.

For everyday makeup, I tend to gravitate toward the bronze, copper, pink, and golden shades.  With all of these makeup trends, I decided to try my hand at a simple Bronze and Pink shimmer eye shadow look:

Curls for the Girls

Hey there!  For my first hair post, I decided to review a natural hair brand called Naturally Silk Elements.  This brand can be purchased at Sally Beauty online or at one of their stores.  These products are extremely affordable, with the priciest item at $10.99 and the lowest item at $1.99.  If you are looking for a product line that will have your hair shiny, defined, and moisturized, then try this one out!

Wear Red for Women’s Day!

Happy International Women’s Day to all!  Today, we were tasked with wearing red in solidarity with the rest of our sisters.  For those of you, like me, who do not have much red to wear in our closets, I have a few ideas for wearing red using makeup, specifically, on the lips.  Everyone has that one red lip color that they don’t need an excuse to flaunt; but if you don’t wear yours every day, today gives you the perfect excuse to whip it out.  My favorite red lip product of all time is the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in the shade 01 Always Red.
